A COUNTRY ESCAPE

This project transformed a tired concrete patio into a refined outdoor space that perfectly balances contemporary design with the character of a period property.

 

Egyptian Limestone forms the foundation, offering a clean, timeless finish that complements the house. An oak pergola, dressed with pendula lights, creates a striking dining area and frames a sculptural olive tree at its centre. At the far end, a corten steel water feature provides a bold focal point, introducing movement and texture.

 

A rill runs seamlessly through the seating area, guiding the eye outwards to the garden and fields beyond. Egyptian Limestone setts add intricate detailing, bringing depth and interest to the hard landscaping.

 

The planting scheme combines structured evergreens with soft drifts of salvias, roses, hydrangeas and grasses. This thoughtful mix creates seasonal movement while blending naturally into the rural setting.

 

The result is a garden that feels both timeless and contemporary — a space designed for relaxation, dining, and year-round enjoyment.
